Cummeragunga is on the Victorian and New South Wales border and is located in the Barmah Forest near Moama. Once a relocated mission for the Yorta-Yorta people of Victoria until the Walk Off in 1939 – it is now the resting place for many of the ancestors who had lived their lives in a time of great struggle and change. This painting represents the early morning rise of the sun that lends hue to the sandy hills where my people rest. The white dots signify the tears of those who mourn.
