For thousands of years Aboriginal people have regularly carried out controlled burn offs during the cooler months to prevent larger fires in the hotter seasons. Catastrophes were avoided by reducing dry fuel and creating natural firebreaks – in turn protecting the environment and encouraging regeneration for vital food sources for both animals and people. This painting represents new growth from the scarred earth.
