Aboriginal people walk in two worlds. The Aboriginal world – and the non-Aboriginal world. We are spiritually connected to the rivers and mountains and valleys and trees … to the rich red soil that crumbles beneath our feet, to the stars in the sky and the sun and the moon. The wind speaks to us in gentle whispers and carries the voices of our ancestors. The echo of ceremony and song lives in our blood, we are called from the old people to ensure nothing is forgotten, that sacred Cultural business will always live on.
Like the wind that carries the voices of our ancestors – it blows the Bogong Moth across the waterways and treetops in a long-distance journey, they migrate with the seasons to their new and lush world. This is reflected by the moth’s journey from one circular Gathering Place to the other each separated by ocean, the world across the seas – the two upper white bands. This is Steelcase’s journey tracks in the pathway to Reconciliation, their vast spread of community is symbolised by the arc shaped mounds either side of the ocean – People.
